Benefits of joining

Members play a key role in shaping the future of the Chapter. Our chapter is 100% volunteer run. We collectively decide how to spend our contributions, whether it is to contract accounting and administrators to support us in getting and maintaining grants, or for coordinating events or getting members to visit and help grow our communities, any activity to bring the power of Wikipedia to our people.

• Your contribution helps free up the time of our volunteers to focus on what they are good at
• You can vote at our AGM, where our Board is elected and administrative motions are passed
• Our members get discounts for local meetings and local Wikimedia Conferences

Membership fees

As of 18 July 2018 Wikimedia ZA elected to change its membership fee structure to a donation driven system. You now have a choice to make a donation of any amount as your membership contribution, either on an annual or monthly basis.

The mailing list is the primary way in which Wikimedia ZA keeps it members informed. Signing up to the mailing list is open to anyone. You don't need to be a chapter member to join it.

Support us financially

Our board and finances are run by volunteers - that means nobody gets paid to do any of this work - but we do need to spend money to organize travel and events, help with data, and to print materials that can help the free knowledge movement.
